Heartland Tales & Tunes brings small groups a unique presentation by weaving fascinating local and regional historical tidbits and songs of the era into a 60 minute show. Each will be liberally sprinkled with humor and audience engagement.
Presentations revolve around monthly themes, unless something else is requested. The songs will be familiar, and may be accompanied on guitar, banjo and simple folk instruments. Folks are encouraged to sing along and they usually do because the songs are familiar and fun. Barb may also include a few of her fun original songs.
She also begins her 11th year playing monthly at The Arbors in Lincoln, and accepts limited private gigs for a variety of organizations as her schedule allows.
Barb was selected as one of 10 presenters for the 2025 Nebraska Storytelling Festival October 23 in Lincoln!

The image for the Heartland Tales & Tunes is a quilt block, sewn in 1915 by Barb's grandmother, Grace McKinley Smith...Barb used Grace McKinley as her radio name for Celtic Heartland. And since she will now be Heartland Tales & Tunes, it only seems fitting to use the quilt block.
